Cootamundra’s real life Rapunzel sent 50 centimetres of her hair to Variety the Children’s Charity.
It all started after Ava learned there were children undergoing medical treatment who didn’t have long hair and she said to her mum that they could have some of her hair.
As well as having her first hair cut, over $3600 has been raised for the charity.
“We need to offer a huge thank you to the people and businesses who supported Ava in particular Pazzaz Hair Studio, which cut Ava’s hair,” Ava’s mum Rebecca said.
Before getting her first hair cut, Mrs Perry said Sarah Bell Burch Photography took some photos of Ava before it was cut.
“Ava loves her new hair, she fell asleep in bed with her hair brush,” Mrs Perry said.
The photos weren’t the only keepsake for Ava – who now has a small lock of hair which is her "moustache”.
“She idolises her pop and he’s got a moustache, so she had to have one,” Mrs Perry said.
