The match was a fairly even one for the first three quarters.
The Blues led by eight at the first change, nine at the long break and extended their lead to 17 points at the last change.
However, the home side booted the first goal of the fourth quarter, bringing the margin back to 11 points – less than two goals.
It really looked as if it was “game on”.
However, the Cootamundra side then booted the next six goals to score an easy 52-point win.
The Blues finished with 15.16 (102) to Belconnen 8.6 (54).
Sandy Maskell Knight was impressive up forward, booting six goals.
This was easily Maskell Knight’s best haul for the season.
Coach Luke Webb dominated in the centre.
Jimmy Finucane – fresh from a holiday over in Bunbury, Western Australia – was a little down, although he remained a constant ball getter.
Captain Phil Bird took many strong marks around the ground.
The consistent Bird is always an inspiration to his teammates.
