He was told he would be attending a family friend’s 60th birthday, so was a little overwhelmed when he opened the door to the auditorium and saw over 100 family and friends who had gathered to wish him well when he starts his treatment for MS in Russia on September 6.
The Barnes family have been fundraising to pay for Adam’s treatment, which will cost in the vicinity of $100,000.
But thanks to a very supportive network, Adam is on his way.
If things go to plan, Adam and his father Bernie will stay in Russia for approximately 30 days and then head home to Australia.
Adam said he was very grateful for all the support he has received from family, friends and everyone who has attended events and helped raise the money needed for the treatment.
The Herald would like to wish Adam and Bernie a safe trip and a successful outcome for Adam and his treatment.
