The 17 Cootamundra students from year 3 to 10 were among 500 people celebrating a mass led by Archbishop Christopher Prowse.
Alice Stuart from Year 9 was the winner of the Cultural and Identity Award.
Alice was nominated by Aboriginal education worker Aileen Maher and principal Janet Cartwright for her commitment to cultivating a sense of identity, pride and respect that recognises and values the diverse needs of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cultural background
“Alice has been instrumental in getting our Aboriginal Homework Group, which runs weekly, off the ground,” Ms Cartwright said.
“She has also contributed her art expertise in all projects around the school, including the recent rock path installation and ensuring a K to 10 approach, encouraging all students and demonstrating leadership within the school.
“This is an exceptional achievement and we congratulate Alice for her community spirit and encouraging students to embrace their cultural heritage,” Ms Cartwright said.
