Only percentage separates them from a finals position with four rounds to play.
Standing in their way this week is Brothers.
The Brethren were knocked off top spot with their loss to Gundagai before their bye and Cootamundra assistant coach Aaron Byrne hopes his team can make it two on the bounce.
“They will be hurting a little bit and obviously every game from now on is important for us,” Byrne said.
“It will make life a fractional easier if we can get a win this weekend.”
Playing in Cootamundra’s hands is two of their last three games are also attention teams right in the fight for finals.
They tackle Junee and Tumut in the following to games which could make of break their hopes.
He believes the three times are fighting for one remaining spot with Gundagai a win, plus percentage clear.
“Gundagai look like they will have that third spot sewn up so it is pretty much three of us fighting for that one spot,” Byrne said.
“They look like they have a better run home so this next fortnight is huge for us.”
Coming off a win against Kangaroos before the bye, Byrne is looking to adopt a similar approach at Equex Centre on Sunday.
He believes the freshen up will help their last ditch for the four and is looking to make sure they get the simple things right.
“We need to keep improving the things that we do against Roos, which was our discipline and ball control,” Byrne said.
“Whenever we have played poor that has been the two causes.”
The Bulldogs taken an unchanged line up into the clash.
After coach Glen Buttriss moved into hooker midway through the season, Jake Goodwin went into the front row against Kangaroos.
With Hayden Cowled into lock and Moe Clune back to the bench, the balance of the side seems to have improved.
“His (Goodwin’s) game doesn’t differ too much anyway apart from having that run of the kick-off,” Byrne said.
“Obviously the eight, 10 and 13 are all pretty similar roles in the middle of the field.
“With Moe pushing back (to the bench) and coming on when Jeremy (Wood) goes up gives us a big body swapping for a big body.
“When Moe and Jeremy were both starting they would come off at around the same time we lost that size.”
It will be a big clash in the forward pack with Brothers welcoming James Hay and Brayden Sharrock back into the side.
Both will come off the bench after long injury lay-offs.
Byrne believes that just makes the taste bigger for the Bulldogs with Hay particularly impressive before his broken jaw.
