The current facility was closed on Monday to allow construction on the $330,000 project to start.
Work is expected to take about 12 weeks.
When complete, the new washing station will use recycled water, reduce overall water usage and have the capacity to wash two trucks at a time.
The facility, which is similar to the truck wash at Harden, will provide the community with greater protection against biosecurity contamination, as well as meeting animal welfare requirements.
In a statement, the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council said the location of the truck wash also meant fatigued drivers would not have to travel long distances to wash out.
Funding for the project has come from the federal government, NSW government and the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council.
