Two provisional-licence holders have had their driving privileges suspended after being caught by police for excessive speeding on the Hume Highway today.

At about 8.30am, police attached to Gundagai Highway Patrol detected a black Toyota RAV4 travelling at 156km/h in a 110km/h sign-posted area near Jugiong.
Police caught up to the vehicle that had its speed increased to 159km/h.
Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the 33-year-old male driver, who produced a NSW P2 licence, which limits the driver to travel at a maximum 100km/h.
Police found the vehicle did not have any P plates displayed.
The driver was issued penalties for exceeding the P2 speed limit by more than 45km/h and for not displaying P plates.
The driver’s licence was suspended on the spot.
His number plates were also seized and returned to the Roads and Maritime Services.
Later the same day, the Gundagai Highway Patrol detected a silver Mitsubishi Lancer at 150km/h on the Hume Highway at Mundarlo, about 75km south of Jugiong.
The vehicle was on travelling southbound on the right-hand lane.
Police caught up to the vehicle and found the vehicle was displaying red P plates.
Police stopped the vehicle and an 18-year-old male produced a NSW P1 licence.
The driver was issued penalties for exceeding the P1 speed limit by more than 45km/h and for driving in the right-hand lane on a road with the speed limit being more than 80km/h.
His licence was suspended on the spot; however, police could not take the vehicle or plates as the driver was not the owner of the vehicle.
