THE Cootamundra Saleyards and Associated Agents yarded 2581 sheep and lambs at its fortnightly sale on Wednesday, which was down about 500 on last sale.

The market consisted of 1112 new season lambs, 819 old lambs, and 775 mutton.
With the dry times continuing it is a credit to vendors the quality of the yarding is still extremely good with each agent having five to six lead pens, with these stock being well rewarded.
With all regular buyers present and they operated in a market that was $ 10 to $15 dearer than the previous sale with some lighter lambs up by about $20 in some places.
Once again there was limited re-stocker interest.
Top price of the day, and the highlight of the sale, was a pen of new season lambs that were supplied by Hazlett Pastoral of Wallenbeen making $258.20.
With an estimated carcase weight of 27kg and wearing a $8 coat they came back at $9.25kg CW.
After an opening bid of $240, they quickly rose to $258.20 and went to Fletchers International after spirited bidding.

Top mutton price was a pen of XB Hoggets making $180 and cast for age XB Ewes up to $130.
The mutton market for hoggets was also $10 to $15 better.
The older mutton was firm on last sale.

Most three to four new season lambs were in the $8.50 to $9.50kg CW with some up to $10kg CW
Mutton prices ranged from $4 to $4.50kg CW range to average about $4.30kg CW.
