Close to $6000 had been raised on Friday night at the Coota Ex-Services Club fundraiser.
While Coota farmers haven’t been as affected by the drought as other parts of regional Australia, many families have personal connections to those in need.
Coota’s club manager Greg Bruce said about 400 people attended and many wanted to come together in support of the farmers.
“A huge thank you goes out to all the businesses and locals who got behind this, donating and increasing our standard 60 item raffle into a mega 125 prize raffle,” Mr Bruce said.
“Probably three to four weeks ago, some locals came together and said they wanted to support those in need.
“That's where we came up with the idea to double our raffle.”
The money raised has been given to Gloria Schultz, who is involved in the farmers support network.
All the proceeds from the event have been created into hampers, including food and toiletries, which will then be distributed and passed on to the Farmers Support Group.
The Parma for a Farma initiative raised $100, the mega raffle raised $3925, the auction raised $1500 and donations made $360, combining a total fundraising effort of more than $5800 for the Farmers Support Group.
Some of the businesses who donated included Harris Tyre Service, South West Fuel and Hello World, however Mr Bruce said many smaller businesses also supported the drought appeal.
