Wayd Namal Millar, who was named Cootamundra’s Young Citizen of the Year in 2012, was given a 12-month suspended sentence last August along with a $14,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to seven counts of filming a person in a private act without their consent.
However, punishment was then upped on Monday in Cootamundra Local Court after he failed to comply with the reporting conditions handed down by the courts.
Magistrate Michael O'Brien revoked Millar’s suspended sentence and imposed a tougher 12-month intensive correction order, which is due to expire on September 17, 2019.
Among his victims were a 17-year-old girl, who he filmed while she was taking a shower in her Albion Park home, and two Cootamundra women, who he filmed in their bathroom.
Millar admitted to setting up his phone to look into the victims’ bathrooms on each occasion and hitting record so he would catch the women when they went to use it.
