Retired and interested in meeting some new friends, or just enjoying a nice outing? Intereach Cootamundra Community Hub hosts a weekly Coffee Group where older people can come along for a relaxed, informal cuppa and a chat.
It might seem fairly obvious, but did you know catching up with a friend for a cuppa and a chat is actually really good for you! Evidence suggests that staying socially connected has a number of health benefits, especially as we get older. Friendships boost happiness and confidence and reduce stress. Studies have also shown that feeling isolated can have a major impact on our mental and physical health, and older people can be particularly vulnerable.
Our weekly Coffee Group offers local older people a chance to get out and about, and enjoy a friendly, welcoming environment. We provide a facilitator who helps ensure the group runs but for the most part the group is about fun, friendship and a nice morning tea. We also arrange occasional guest speakers.
Entry is by gold coin donation, with all money going towards a Christmas Lunch for the group.
Pop into the Hub for a chat or come along to the group from 10.30am to noon every Thursday.
