It is a day that enables the club president to be host to fellow club presidents of the district and their respective teams by way of a game of bowls and a meal.
I believe it is very much a life blood event for Country Clubs, the value of which Sydney headquarters has no idea.
Last weekend our Country Club President, Graham Davidson, was pleased to welcome representative teams from all our District Clubs, and a few extras, to help celebrate this day in the 2018 calendar for the Country Club.
Whilst it is a friendly get together in the main the best two results on the green are recognised with a few dollars
On this occasion those winning teams were Robert Ruhle, Scott Douglas, Colin Powell, and Kevin Porter from Young Bowling Club with a score of 30 points after two short games, and the runner-up team, after a countback, were Roger Williams, Garry Cassidy, Keith Townley, and Ron Johnson, who beat the Briibbaree team on winning margin of shots.
District President, Cliff Traynor, complemented the hosts as he presented the winners money, and Kevin Porter added his team’s thanks also.
The success of event was due to the work of many volunteers, the raffle run by Des Guthrie, the works staff with the greens, fine food from the kitchen, the great job done by bar staff and let us not forget the chaps who checked the cards.
A great day among bowling friends.
Tuesday saw the club back to normal, somewhat, and four games of pairs was arranged, and a change of prize giving was decided as a result of a little glitch, and thus out of the hat the day’s winners were G Worboys, K Ryan, and K Medcalf.
The sad note of the day was saying farewell to one of our valued loyal bowlers namely David Bateup who is moving to be closer to family.
He will be greatly missed, and we wish him and Julie every happiness for the future.
