After several years working as a freelance writer, news journalist and magazine editor, Ms Hancock moved into the corporate communication sector where she contributed to large web migration and content creation projects. Wanting to get back to grassroots level work, she feels this full circle movement in her career is very timely.
“Returning to journalism feels like coming home,” she said. “It’s where I first developed my writing skills.”
Speaking of home, she has a family link with the Cootamundra community. June and Les Cooper, her mum and step-dad moved here three years ago, which was a home-coming for Mr Cooper, whose parents Bud and Pat Cooper worked with the railway for many years.
“I look forward to keeping the community up-to-date with all the latest news and events that contribute to Cootamundra’s local scene,” said Kellie.
Cootamundra Herald editor Ross Tyson said he was thrilled to welcome Ms Hancock to the team. "Kellie brings to the Cootamundra Herald a wealth of experience across a variety of roles in the media and communication sectors," he said. "Just as importantly, she has a strong sense of community and is looking forward to immersing herself in the town."
