The South West Fuel (SWF) service station on Yass Road will be open from 5.30am – 9.30pm seven days a week, with fuel available 24hrs on Eftpos.
Fuel is not the only thing on the menu however, with a focus on fresh grab-and-go-food and specialty coffee featuring in the cafe.
“We’ve had some tremendous feedback on our first few days trading and we know it is a great asset for Cootamundra,” SWF General Manager Rod Faulks said.
“I encourage people to come and try the drive-through coffee and food as it is all freshly cooked onsite.”
One of five SWF retail sites in the region, the new complex is a contemporary version of a small country town “servo” for locals and travellers alike.
South West Fuel is transitioning to a truly independent fuel company after a 35-year association with a major oil company.
“The problem with a major oil brand is once they have your signature on a supply agreement they can charge a large premium for the same fuel,”Mr Faulks said.
“I really want to thank our loyal customers for supporting us with this transition,” he said.
“It encourages us to continue donating and sponsoring $30,000 to the local community each year.”
Mr Faulks expressed gratitude to Chambers Garage for looking after SWF account customers while the new site was being built.
He also welcomed the five new staff to the team.
Councillors from Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council were full of praise for the new fuel facility.
“This is a huge vote of confidence by the shareholders of South West Fuel in the future of Cootamundra,” Cr Charlie Sheahan said.
“Travellers will be encouraged to stop, revive, survive, ensuring better road safety in the area,” Cr Gil Kelly said.
Coffee and pie specials and face painting are on offer today as part of the grand opening celebrations.
