Words cannot describe my disappointment of the finish of the day for me last Saturday. Returning home from a great presentation night with the club’s bowlers, I fell over a lawn mower and broke my arm. First break in my life!

Of interest for our town`s bowlers last week was the Annual Grasshopper Day game that came into being years ago as an inter-club event hosted by the Country Club for play when the Service Club green is under renovation.
It became known as Grasshopper Day when the green, one year, was covered by hoppers in plague proportions when play was to begin.
Last year the Country Club won the trophy back from Ex-Services, and on Sunday, the Country Club side were able to retain this trophy.
The best performed team for Country Club was that of K Badcock, R Crowe and D Harris. And for the Ex-Services we congratulated N Blackett, . Hampton and M Willis. Friendships were renewed afterwards and stories of the one that got away were exchanged as the barbecue was consumed with a drink or two.
The Tuesday morning Beat the Heat program saw a Triples and three Pairs games take place.
The smallest point score of 16.5 was recorded by W Prosser and J Cooper when they defeated C Peters and C Jordan, 23-16. Then we have a win for G Bushell and C Willis over K Medcalf and B Gibson by one shot for 18 points.
D O’Brien and E Thorburn had a convincing 32-17 win over W. Watmore and K Topp for 19 points.
Now we come to the Triples game and meat tray winners; G Hagan, ‘Munsie ‘’ and M Barber who defeated G Botrall, C Miller and G Davidson to score 19.5 points.
W Prosser scored the raffle prize.
