A man who allegedly stole a ute from Gundagai went on a crime spree that ended when he crashed his car while threatening a homeowner with a spear gun.

A Toyota Landcruiser was stolen from the Gundagai area on Wednesday, police said.
They allege a 21-year-old man used the four-wheel-drive to enter a number of properties in the Table Top region and stole property the following day.
The man is accused of also stealing a Nissan Qashqai, swapping between the compact SUV and the Landcruiser to go between properties.
He was travelling in the Toyota when, as he was stealing from a home on Perryman Lane at Table Top, the 49-year-old man who lived there returned to the premises, police said.
The owner followed the younger man as he fled in the Landcruiser, who allegedly pulled a spear gun and threatened him while the vehicles were travelling parallel to each other.
The two vehicles collided and the 21-year-old was detained.
Police arrived and took the man to Albury police station, where he was charged with a string of offences.
He was refused bail and will face Albury Local Court on three counts of stealing cars and one each of aggravated enter dwelling with intent, driving dangerously, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, using a weapon to avoid apprehension and carrying a spear gun in public, likely to injure person.
