This was an increase of approximately 700 from the last sale of 2018.
The market consisted of 2159 lambs, 159 hoggets and 543 mutton sheep.
The quality of the market overall was fairly good considering the extreme temperatures over the past three weeks.
All agents had some very good runs of lead pens and ewe mutton was of higher quality than the last sale.
Most of the regular processors returned this sale and were keen to fill orders, and they operated in a market that was $12 to $ 15.00 better than the last sale for lambs and $20 to $25.00 better for mutton, although this was quality related.
There was very keen interest in some larger lots of small, well-bred store lambs returning to the paddock and they made up to $85.00 per head.
Top price once again went to Irene Morton of “Stockdale”, Coolac, with a pen of XB Lambs making $176.00.
With an estimated CW of 25.5 KG and a small $3.00 jacket, they came back at $6.90 / KG CW.
Most 3 to 4 score lambs were in the $6.30 to $6.90/KG CW.
There were some very good lines of heavier mutton presented and they were keenly sought after by a number of processors, and prices ranged in the $4.30 to $4.50/KG CW.
These prices were $0.30 to $0.50/KG CW better than the last sale.
Hoggets are still in demand, with the top price of $140.00 to average $98.00.
