The market consisted of 3162 lambs, 249 hoggets, 689, mutton sheep.
The quality of the market was possibly the best that we have had for a number of months and the stock presented were a credit to the vendors considering the heat and dry times over the last period of time.
A good field of buyers were on the rail along with the return of a major processor, and they operated in a market that was up to $5 easier for trade lambs. These prices reduction, are similar to other regional saleyards over the last week.
There was some re-stocker interest especially on the lighter shorn lambs, and they made between $75 to $105.
Top price, and for the fourth sale in a row, went to Irene Morton of “Stockdale” Coolac with a pen of XB Lambs making $175.
With an estimated CW of 26.5kg and a small $5 jacket they came back at $6.45kg CW. These lambs went to Southern Meats Goulburn on a knock call.
Most three to four score lambs were in the $6.20 to $6.50kg CW.
There was some very good lines of heavier mutton, although the mutton market was back about $5 to $10. They ranged in the $4 to $4.20kg CW. Hoggets were $10 cheaper, top price of $148 to average $80.
