Just a few weeks into the first term and it’s clear that 2019 will be a fantastic year for students and staff alike at Cootamundra High School.
The new leadership team are excited to work alongside principal, Leesa Daly, to create positive change and inspire values of respect, responsibility and excellence.
This year the captains will focus on encouraging school spirit, as well as ensuring each student feels welcomed and engaged at school.
The school community consistently seek to acknowledge students - whether that is academic, sporting, cultural or other pursuits.
The annual swimming carnival kicked the year off, students dressed in their brightest house colours, and everyone was encouraged to participate - even if it was just in the novelty events. The event always gets different year groups to interact.
The new SRC for 2019 has also been formed, and are all enthusiastically planning the “Be Brave and Shave” day coming up in March, as well as discussing new ideas (suggested by both junior and senior years) with staff.
Finally, the leaders have also reintroduced the raising of the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags each morning, contributing to a sense of pride for all students and staff.
Leaders and the school community are all looking forward to 2019 and all it will bring at Cootamundra High School, and encourage you to follow along with them through the school Facebook page, or via the school’s mobile app.
