The Cootamundra Saleyards and Associated Agents yarded 2985 sheep and lambs at its fortnightly sale, down by approximately 100 on the previous sale.

The quality was again very good considering the dry times, with each agent having some excellent well-finished lead pens.
There was a good line-up of buyers operating in a market $4 to $6 cheaper for medium weight trade lambs (22 to 24kg CW) while heavier trade lambs (25kg CW plus) were up to $5 off the pace from the previous sale.
Even though the dry weather continues there was some restocker activity and also with stock going into feedlots in southern NSW and central Victoria.
Top price for the day went to John Chapman Harden with an outstanding pen of XB Lambs making $171.
With an estimated CW of 26.5kg and a $4.50 jacket they came back at $6.25/kg CW and went to Southern Meats Goulburn.
After 57 years of selling sheep at Cootamundra Saleyards this is John's last sale as he has sold his farm.
Most 3 to 4 score lambs were in the $6.10 to $6.30/kg CW with the light trade weight bag lambs (14 to 16kg CW) up to $7/kg CW
Most of the heavier lambs 25kg plus were in the $5.80 to $6.20 bracket.
There was a limited selection of mutton, back $5 to $7 on the previous sale.
They ranged in the $3.90 to $4.40/kg CW.
The hogget market was softer with a top price of $125 to average $81, back $10.
OTHER LAMB QUOTES: 24 to 26kg CW made from $140 to $150; 22 to 24kg CW made from $141 to $149; 20 to 22kg CW made from $135 to $145; 18 to 20kg CW made from $94 to $120 and 16 to 18kg CW made from $85 to $105.
