The match played at Bolton Park on Saturday, saw the Blues win by 47 points, booting 13-13-91 top 6-8-44.
The match was decent hit out which was played in four 20-minute quarters.
With the departure of Stephen Chant to Mackay and Jimmy Finucane now playing for Ganmain Grong Grong Matong, the Blues were still able to field a particularly strong side.
The Blues dominated the first two quarters booting 9-4-58 to Tumbarumba 4-3-27.
It would appear that fitness was a key issue, as the boys from the mountains steadied in the final two quarters as the Blues only booted 4-9 to 2-5.
A number of players impressed in the Blues' first outing for the season.
Two-time best and fairest winner Dylan McDermott was in fine touch and looks set for another big season.
Zac Oliver who travels from Orange to play, was superb form up front, with his strong marking was a feature of his play and his efforts was rewarded with four goals.
The Stockinbingal connection of Sam Larsen and Jack Caldwell certainly showed plenty of pace.
Larsen looks set for big season, while Caldwell will be an asset to the Blues when he is available as he is mixing playing for Temora Dragons.
- Goals: Dylan McDermott 4, Zac Oliver 4, Sam Larsen 3, Luke Webb and Jack Caldwell.
- Best: Dylan McDermott, Zac Oliver, Phil Bird, Aaron Basham, Joel Pearson, Sam Larsen, and Jack Caldwell.
Thanks to Michaela Percival who umpired and Sally Ormond, who was the timekeeper.
Off field direction coming from Jason Baldock and Chris Drum.
