The award recognises people who have made an outstanding contribution to the show movement.
David and Janelle have been long standing members of the Cootamundra Show Society; David currently vice-president and Janelle assistant secretary.
tDavid is also the Show Society's representative on the Showground Users Group, which looks after showground maintenance.
They are also very active members of the Beef Cattle Committee and play major roles at the annual Cootamundra Show, David stewarding in the beef cattle section and Janelle overseeing all of the catering for the large number of beef cattle exhibitors and the large number of junior exhibitors and competitors that spend a couple of days at the showground for the Beef Cattle and Group Finals in Young Judges and Parader events.
They are both active in finding sponsorship and Janelle organises all of the prizes for all of the Beef Cattle events; a huge job with often up to 10 different breeds and over 100 head of cattle entered.
Both Janelle and David can be found at the showground for the lead-up to the show to set up pavilions, seating, fencing and livestock exhibiting areas.
The couple is seen again after the show to clean up.
In 2016, the Cootamundra Show Society successfully applied for a Public Reserves Management Fund Grant to demolish a dilapidated wooden shed and construct a new multipurpose facility which will benefit the whole community.
It is also used as a much needed Cattle and Sheep Pavilion at the Cootamundra Show.
This building bears the Manwaring name for all they have given to the show.
The Excellence Award was won by Beverley O'Ryan of Nimmitabel.
