Joan Butts is a teacher of teachers in the bridge fraternity. They attended four lessons to help their play followed by games of bridge with people from all over Australia.
Monday night played a three table Mitchell movement and taking out first place in the N/S field was Julie Jenkins and Lee Furness on 59.38, with Di Scott and Sally Lawler second on 50. In E/W we saw an equal first to Loo Manning and Annie MacMaster, and Barb Beveridge and Joan Adams with 52.08.
Jenny will be back on board next Monday so contact her for play.
Tuesday Session - Played a 91/2 table Mitchell Relay movement with the N/S winners being Judith Harris and Jane Storey on 59.03 and in 2nd place were Lyn Ramsay and Sally Lawler scoring 55.0, then followed an equal 3rd placing to pairs, Annie MacMaster and Barb Beveridge, and Kerry Byrne and Jennifer Kozman all scoring 54.63. In 5th position were Sue Lenehan and new player Jo Miller on 51.39.
In the East/West field Joan Adams and Kate Graham were 1st with 60.49 and 2nd were Colleen Honner and Dianne Scott on 57.55. 3rd place went to Timmie Smirl and Jilly Pockley with 54.43 and 4th were Frank Davidson and Jenny McAinsh with 53.39. Julie Moon and Rhonda Twomey came in 5th position on 50.52.
The Australia-Wide Novice Pairs event is on the May 28 for players with up to 100 Master Points.
