The fallout of Labor's defeat has continued to unfold in Queensland, with MPs saying the party must learn from the result and listen hard to bush voters if it is to stand a chance of re-election at next year's state poll.

They want more regional MPs in cabinet and have flagged the creation of a new portfolio with a particular focus on communities outside of the southeast corner.

But Ms Palaszczuk's office says she is not considering a reshuffle.

But the government dropped its prosecution on Tuesday after the parties agreed the company would install an automated system at its floodwater release point near the ocean.
