Perhaps with that in mind, members of the Cootamundra branch of the CWA give a "baby bundle" to a mum whose newborn arrives around Mother's Day.
Many of the items in the bundle are handmade by CWA members, who were happy to make a difference to a newborn and their family.
This year, the Evans family were the lucky recipients of the donated items.
Baby girl Harper was born in the Cootamundra Hospital on May 21 at 12.52am.
When members of the CWA branch - secretary Jill Thompson and vice president Jeanette Puckeridge - dropped off the bundle to Harper and her mum Danielle, they were also able to meet dad Ricky and older sister Indigo.
Sadly for Harper's other big sisters, Libby and Ally, they were at school when the delivery occurred and didn't get to see what had arrived until later in the day.
When the CWA of NSW was formed in 1922, one of the biggest issues for members was improving the health and welfare of women and their children in regional areas, a tradition the Cootamundra women are continuing with their own special twist.
