Artists include Peter McPhail, Frank Brown, Daniel Fry, Clayton Manwaring, Rachael Cosgrove, Gil Kelly, Hamish Nott, Lesley Cheshire, Gloria Schultz, Kate Collingridge, Chris Carr and Steph Cook.

Canvas for CanAssist organiser Chris Williams said these artists were asked to be involved as they represent a diverse cross-section of the community and with no-one having a history in the art world it would be a level playing field for all.

"We are so thankful to these people who are prepared to put up their hand for CanAssist," Mrs Williams said.

Canvas for CanAssist will take place at the Ex Services Club on Saturday, September 14 with all 12 artworks to be displayed prior to being auctioned off.

Cootamundra auctioneer Col Harris will turn his attention from his day job of selling livestock to selling artwork after he was recruited as the auctioneer for the night.

There is no theme to the artworks, artists can choose to go down any route they wish.

Some artists will go it alone letting their inner painter/drawer take them wherever it may, while others have chosen to be guided during informal workshops hosted by local artists, Bev Withers (also CanAssist president), Louise Dabin and Marg Peck.

Mrs Williams is particularly pleased to have on board a number of artists with a connection to Cootamundra and district cancer patients through their day jobs including a doctor, pharmacist, paramedic and more.

All funds raised from the sale of the artworks will go to CanAssist helping the charity to continue its good work providing financial support to those diagnosed with cancer as they go through treatment. This support eases the burden at a time when money should take second place to health and wellbeing.
