Outside Braybrooks Pharmacy at the corner of Parker and Bourke last Friday there was a noticeboard announcing the retirement of Margaret after 30 years with the shop.

When I sat down with Margaret Nixon inside the shop to find out more, a customer passed by commenting "she's still not allowed to retire, I won't let her".
"I'm going to miss you, I've loved you Margaret and it's not going to be the same without you."
As an unsolicited tribute it would be hard to go past such a glowing reference - Margaret's employer, Judy Braybrook, was a little less effusive when I spoke with her later, but the message was the same: "Margaret has been a very caring and loyal employee and always 'gone the extra mile' for our customers.
"Paul and I wish Margaret and Maurie a wonderful retirement."
Before Margaret started with Braybrooks in 1989, she had trained as a nurse under the nuns at the Mercy Hospital - now Cootamundra Hospital - after which she trained to get her registered nurse certification in Sydney, where she did obstetrics.
Born and bred in Cootamundra, it was family the brought Margaret and Maurie back here.
"We had children and I was looking for something part-time - I started out part-time but I've been full-time for the past 20 years," Mrs Nixon said.
Mrs Nixon has two children: son Daniel lives in Brisbane and is married with two children, and daughter Sarah is married with two children in Canberra.
"They both went through school here but had to go away to university to do the degrees they wanted to do, and continued on from there," she said.
The Nixons are planning to travel, although not overseas. Having caravanned for years they may do a couple of short trips before a big adventure, travelling to Perth in October in the Indian Pacific.
Maurie Nixon also retired last week, from his job of many years doing courier work with Toll Couriers, around Temora.
"My husband's driven all his life so he needs to sit back and relax when we go to Perth," Mrs Nixon said.
"It will be something totally different to what we've done previously.
"We'll stay a couple of weeks there then do trips right around before we fly back. Then it'll be in that caravan and off we go - but we'll never leave Cootamundra - we've got family here."
Mrs Nixon said she'd loved working at Braybrooks, in particular the friendships she's made with other staff and customers and working for Mr and Mrs Braybrooks.
"It's been a very framily-friendly place and I'm a people person so it's always been enjoyable.
"Having that medical background I think has been an asset that's allowed me to actually help a lot of people".
