Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke is encouraging Cootamundra residents to have their say on who gets the funding, with $260,000 to be allocated to projects throughout her electorate.
Ms Cooke said 43 projects have reached the public vote stage, allowing everybody a chance to help decide which ideas come to life.
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council has put forward four Cootamundra specific projects for funding.
The projects are for a sculpture of aviation pioneer Arthur Butler, "the most understated aviator in Australia" according to Nancy Bird Walton ($82,700); three new cricket nets at Fisher Park with lighting, water, power and storage shed ($105,475); an upgrade for Cootamundra Rodeo grounds amenities block ($82,000); and completion of Rotary Peace Pavilion providing the community and visitors a symbol of peace for all to enjoy ($30,000).
"This is a fantastic opportunity for everybody to have a say in how their communities will develop, whether that's through the building of a new sport facility, upgrades to a hall or even the staging of an event," Ms Cooke said.
"It's an innovative and exciting program that is putting decision making back in the hands of community members to weigh in on their top picks for projects in the region."
Voting opened this week and residents have until August 15 to nominate between three and five projects.
