A 24-point loss is the closest the Bulldogs have been in the second half of the season, but were able to put in their best performance of the year to take a 22-8 win at Les Boyd Oval.
Vice president Paul Miller was thrilled the club was able to finally get some reward for the effort they have put in this season.
"Our guys have tried hard all year, have been competitive in most games but probably lacked a little execution, but today was just so good," Miller said.
"It was a great reward for the effort they have put in all year."
Haydn Cowled and James Woolford put in big performances to claim the valuable two points.
It was a big day for the club, and despite poor weather cancelling their helicopter drop, the victory was a delight to both players and supporters.
"There was people lining the sheds as we walked back into the change room just wanting to high five them," Miller said.
"It was such a good vibe for our club, and who knows what will happen next year, but it was something that we really, really needed."
Cootamundra's reserve grade side sits in third place.
The loss continues a terrible back end of the season for the Dragons.
On the hunt for their first finals appearance in 10 years, Temora were two wins and percentage clear of the chasing pack at the midway point of the season.
However they've only won one game, against Young by a point, since then.
They face Junee in the last round of the season while the Bulldogs travel to take on Young.
