Interference at the start almost cost the Lorraine Roy-trained dog any chance in the Lake Village Butchery Stakes (400m) at Wagga on Friday night, but he didn't let the early trouble get in his way.

Inside he stormed home, chasing down Paul Strutt's pair Stagger Out Sam and Stagger Out Bert to win by almost a length.

Jack Roy thought he'd lost his chance, but was thrilled with tough display.

"It was a very good run and he chases good," Roy said.

"I didn't give up hope completely but I thought I was in a fair bit of trouble but all kudos to him.

"He chased good to get the win.

Jason's Chance was off the scene for five months, but has returned with some consistent form.

He's only missed the placings once in his last six starts since the problem and had put the writing on the wall with two placings in his last two runs.

"His form has been alright," Roy said.

"He's another dog who has had an injury but has just got over it. He was out for about three months but has come back good.

"Hopefully he is on the improve and there are more wins in store."

It was his sixth win at start 24 to go along with 10 minor placings.
