In the early stages, shots were hard to come by and with three ends to go Freda and Geoff held the lead 11-9. But on the next end, they conceded six shots to relinquish the lead and never regained their advantage. Lynn and Steve went on to record a good 16-14 victory.
LADIES CLUB TRIPLES
Vera Jeffrey, Sara Lopez and Joan Cummins combined to defeat Marilyn Allen, Monica Kelly and Freda Hambrook 16-9 and move into the final. In the other semi, Lynn Fisher (sub), Carolyn Buchanan and Lorraine Evelyn progressed to the final with a 25-14 win over Margaret Cosgrove, Robyn Snape and Rhonda Nolan.
COOTA/ETTALONG CUP
While both clubs won two rinks each, Coota Ex retained the cup with an aggregate score of 95-73. Rink 3 Oscar Lopez, Paul Cockram and Jim White were defeated 22-24 by Fred Hanneberry's team. Rink 4 Jason Jones, Geoff Manwaring and Bob New best winning card with a 28-7 win over K. Blakes team. Ginger O'Brien, Wally Chater and Don O'Neill recorded a 21-19 win against Craig Jordan's team, while Jeff Withers, Graeme Snape and Geoff Hillier were defeated 23-25 by T. Fisher's team.
SOCIAL BOWLS
On Wednesday, October 2, 20 bowlers participated with two triples and two pairs games. The pick of the games was between Ashley, Craig Jordan and Ron Johnson with their opposition being Mark Devere, Don (Duck) O'Neill and Jim White.
This was a hard-fought match with the score 18-all with two ends to play. White's team recorded five shots on end 20 and looked the winners, but Johnson's team also recorded a five on the final end to have the score at 23-all. An extra end was needed to get a result; Jim's side recorded one shot to win the game.
On Friday, Jeff Withers, S. Hayes and Pat O'Brien defeated John Huntington, Craig Jordan and J. Fisher 25-14. Mick Andrews, Rocky Ford and Pickles Bradley defeated Keith Hampton, Bloopy Manwaring and Peter Hoang 24-13.
