Interestingly for a report looking to the future, the 2050 Strategy also looks to the past, recommending a thorough reassessment of the 118-year-old Cootamundra Town Hall.

A heritage study done in 2001 by Black Mountains Projects Pty Ltd stated that the building had "disappeared" and didn't list it for heritage value. However the Strategy document says this was incorrect and observes, as we all know, that the hall is just hidden behind the 1971 administrative offices.
"The opulence and decorative features of the Town Hall include stained glass windows, ornate columns and structural arches," the Strategy says.
"A full heritage assessment would determine whether the Hall is an item of local heritage or whether the unique features would make it worthy of State recognition."
