"The fire burnt an area of approximately two hectares, in an area that is inaccessible to vehicles and heavy plant machinery, as it is a very rocky terrain." NSW Rural Fire Service Community Safety Officer Tom McDevitt said.
"Brigade members and the Remote Area Firefighting Team were in attendance at the scene, and were able to contain the fire that evening."
NSW Rural Fire Service crews from Cootamundra attended the fire and were assisted by teams from Young.
"There is still some burning timber today (Wednesday) and crews continue to work at the scene, assisted by a bulldozer and helicopter." Officer Tom McDevitt said.
"Crews will continue to patrol the area into Thursday and Friday as heavy wind is predicted for this area."
The Bureau of Meteorology are forecasting hot, dry and windy conditions in the coming days. This will drive up fire dangers particularly on Friday and Saturday.
We are currently within the Bushfire Danger period, which means that lighting any fire requires a permit from the NSW RFS.
At the time of writing this article, 41 fires continued to burn across NSW, and 12 were yet to be contained.
"It is important that families discuss their bush fire survival plan and know what their household will do if threatened by fire." Officer McDevitt said.
