In the Delta Agribusiness match of the day at Albert Park, the Blues won the toss, chose to bat and scored 141. But the Crusaders cruised to victory in the 29th over, finishing with 3/145.
The Crusaders have opened up an eight-point lead on top, remaining the only undefeated side in the five-team competition.
With the Blues having not played in this competition last season, the sides were playing each other for the first time since the 2017-18 final, which the Crusaders won by seven wickets.
The Blues got away to great start with openers Josh Platt and Peter Guthrie. The pair added 69 runs with Platt scoring 50 from 46 balls, while Guthrie made 27.
The Blues looked set for decent total with score at 2/106. But apart from Luke Cosgrove, who finished with 39 not out, the Blues crumbled to be all out in the 33rd over for 141. Bowling honours were evenly shared. Dean Bradley captured 3/33, Dilan Seneviratne 2/19 and Ray James 2/14.
Set the moderate score of 142 for victory, the Crusaders lost Mark Elia and Matt Berkrey, both for nine runs. Opener Scott Meale was the last Crusaders' batsman out for a fine 54.
Darren Connell finished 42 not out, while James Smith was also unconquered on 16.
In the other match at Cullen Oval, the Coyotes and Mimosa only lasted 20 overs as the Coyotes were bowled out for just 17. Mimosa replied with 1/18.
In the BFB/Blooms Chemist competition, both Cootamundra teams recorded wins. At Nixon Park, Stockinbingal chased down the Bowling Club Tigers' score of 87 inside 20 overs, finishing with 2/90. Man of the match was Stockinbingal all-rounder Nick Holt. The talented all-rounder captured 4/16 with the ball and with the bat, remaining 19 not out.
At Clarke Oval, the Cootamundra Ex-Services Magpies scored an exciting win over the Temora Renegades. The Renegades scored 6/217 from their 40 overs. The Magpies replied with 6/218, winning off the last ball of the match.
Luke Ismay, with 81, and Nick Louttit, 48, were the stars for the Magpies. The pair added 118 runs for the fourth wicket.
