At the Country Club oval on Friday, the team introduced its coaches, Mitch Wakeford and Cameron Stanley, and president Steve Hardie.
"We know it's going to be a challenge, everyone's going to be gunning for us," said Wakeford, a senior constable with Cootamundra police.
"We're looking to build on last year's achievement, that's why it's important that the group is willing to put in the hard work," he said.
"We've lost a few players but also gained some new players and as long as the group keeps challenging themselves I'm sure we'll be there at the finals.
New players include Hamish Pennington, a fly half who has been playing first grade with Wagga Aggies and has also been drawn into the central west rep squad.
Five players have been drawn into the central west squad, and Wakeford has been announced as an assistant coach for central west.
Wakeford played with Coota briefly last year until he got a foot injury, then with Stanley assisted coach Mark Elia for the rest of the year.
"I'm 100 per cent recovered from the injury (a plantar fascia tear), but I'm hoping we'll have the numbers so I won't have to put the boots on," he said.
Aged 32, he previously played with Illawarra and NSW country for 15 years before moving to Cootamundra last year for work, while Cameron Stanley has played all his rugby in the Canberra comp.
President Stave Hardie, a farmer from just north west of Wallendbeen, says everyone is looking forward to another good season.
"Probably at this stage we don't have quite as many players as we had last year.
"We're working on that but it's hard to tell until you actually kick the season off and you get a few more people appearing then.
"One of our main priorities will be to get the club house finished so we can use it during the season, which is on track to happen.
Other members in 2020 will include Rod Chalmers, Luke Eberly, Corey Nicholson, Pete Charker, Bob Scott, Angus Foster, Kristian Bodycott, Justin Roberts, Roger Miller and Maggie Armstrong.
