The chance of rain and storms will increase from Wednesday and will continue to impact the region until early next week, Weatherzone meteorologists say.
"While this type of weather pattern is not unusual for this time of year, it's the first widespread rain and storm event we've seen in eastern Australia so far this season," meteorologists said.
"Widespread totals of 20 to 40mm are likely between now and next Tuesday, some places in NSW and Queensland should pick up 50 to 100mm of rain from this system and isolated totals over 100mm can't be ruled out."
