Cootamundra's Amelia Hassett has helped the NSW Kookaburras under-18s to a strong start at the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup in Albury.

The centre helped the Kookaburras to wins over South Australia Sharks (69-49), Tasmania (72-34) and South Australia Magpies (83-49), as well as a narrow 98-93 loss to traditional heavyweights Victoria Bushrangers.
Hassett and the NSW side were sitting comfortably in second position on the competition ladder ahead of yesterday's game.
Hassett was sitting in second position on the shooting statistics for the NSW side contributing 47 points to the team's scoring in the first four games.
Cootamundra product Alex Oliver's NSW Waratahs under-16s girls side was also sitting in second position after winning three of their first four matches.
Oliver had contributed 19 points to the team's scoring.
The Under 16s have recorded wins over the Victorian Bushranges (70-71), New Zealand Kea (107-56) and the South Australian Sharks (80-74). The side's only loss was at the hands of a very strong Victorian Goldminers side 107-55.
Meanwhile the Wagga Blaze have announced they will place the emphasis on the team's young local talent to take the next step this season after confirming they won't sign any imports for their Waratah League division one side.
