Selectors have retained seven players from the side that easily defeated Wagga in last season's final at McPherson Oval. Sunday's match at Seiffert Oval is only the second representative match for the season for Cootamundra.
After Goulburn defeated Cootamundra by 47 runs in round one, Wagga forfeited to Cootamundra in round two in December.
After Goulburn defeated Cootamundra, they travelled to Wagga in January and were beaten by seven wickets. That meant that both Goulburn and Cootamundra finished the season with a win and a loss. As Goulburn finished with a higher quotient, they are hosting the final.
Cootamundra's strength will be their bowling line-up, with David Garness the leading wicket taker in Wagga cricket with 31 wickets. Dean Bradley is the leading wicket taker in the South West Slopes Cricket League, with 21 wickets at 11. Garness and Bradley should receive good support from Gene Kessell, Jarrod Keelan and Ryan Breese.
Cootamundra's batting will be led Matt Berkrey, Nathan Corby, Jack Caldwell and the Cronin brothers.
The Cootamundra side in batting order is: Mick Cronin, Aaron Cronin, Jack Caldwell, Matt Berkrey, Nathan Corby (captain), Nick Holt, Gene Kessell, David Garness, Jarrod Keelan, Ryan Breese, Dean Bradley and Ray James.
The match starts at 10am. Umpires are Dennis Chaplin and Tony Hackett (Wagga).
SOUTH WEST
The Delta Agribusiness Cup minor premiership is on the line in Saturday's final round.
Young Services Blues lead the competition on quotient over the Come Alive Fitness Crusaders. While the Blues have the bye on Saturday, they will be interested spectators at Cranfield Oval as the Crusaders take on the Coyotes. Should the Crusaders defeat the Coyotes, the Crusaders will advance to the final. However, if the Coyotes win and the Central Hotel cause a big upset and defeat Mimosa at Nixon Park, the Coyotes will finish third and play finals, while Mimosa will miss out. Dennis Elphick is officiating at Cranfield Oval, while Jeff Egan is in charge at Nixon Park.
In the BFB/Blooms Chemist competition, Stockinbingal are hosting the Criterion Gunners. This match is a must-win for the village side to maintain fourth spot.
The Cootamundra Ex-Services Magpies' last game for the season sees them travel to the oval in Temora to play the Bowling Club Tigers.
MILESTONE
Cootamundra umpire Pat Kerin will reach another milestone when he stands in his 600th match on Saturday.
Kerin, who is about to complete his 17th season, is to stand in the match of the day in the BFB/Blooms Chemist competition at the Stockinbingal Recreation Ground.
