Parker Street might look a bit brighter this winter with 14 more trees decorated with fairy lights.
This follows a $1m drought relief grant to council, discussed at its recent meeting.
Councillors were presented with 13 suggested projects, seven in Cootamundra and six in Gundagai. With surprisingly little discussion they decided on an even split of $500,000 each to upgrade the towns' main streets.
The project in Cootamundra was described as "paving, gardens, signage, shade structures, tree lighting and art", with the tourism action committee to provide input through a subcommittee
Funding will be targeted at infrastructure projects that provide employment and stimulate the local economy.
The council could not respond in time to two requests about when the funds would be applied for.
