The annual Sportsperson of the Year Dinner planned for May 9 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus situation.
The CSF committee is planning to announce award winners for their sporting performances in 2019 at some stage with a public presentation to be held later in the year.
Nominations for 2019 awards are still being taken and close on April 9, with nomination forms for both individuals and teams found on the CSF website.
The major award is the Frank Smith Memorial Trophy, which was won last year by Zac Rumble for his performances in rugby league and Kristen Byrne collected the Best Local Sportsperson award for her league tag achievements.
The Junior Sportsperson award was won by outstanding rodeo competitor Montanna Wilkinson and the Junior Encouragement Award went to Luke Dowell for his efforts in martial arts.
In the teams division the Stribley Shield cricket team and the Cootamundra Bears under 12's rugby team collected the gongs.
There will be also recognition to people for sports administration and the Max Rudd Memorial Trophy for contribution to sport, which were won by Gary Mason (Golf) and the Kelleher family (junior rugby league) respectively in 2019.
It is hoped that sporting clubs will nominate both individuals and teams for their achievements last year, as there were plenty of sporting highlights in the town in 2019.
The Cootamundra Sports Foundation was formed in February 1974 and the Foundation celebrated 45 years of service to the Cootamundra district in 2019. Further information on the awards can be obtained from Christine Leahy or Graeme Worboys and the CSF website.
