The Member for Cootamundra today announced $18,491 for the Australian Red Cross Society from the NSW Government's 2019 Community Building Partnership Program.
The funding will be used to upgrade the 100 year old heritage Cootamundra Red Cross Shop, replacing the damaged gutter and storm water systems.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the grant was well-deserved for an important organisation that had been supporting the Cootamundra community for more than a century.
"I am so pleased this project has secured funding from the Community Building Partnership program, which is all about developing places and spaces for the whole community," Ms Cooke said.
"The Cootamundra Red Cross Shop is a fantastic local asset, these upgrades will help it continue to serve the community for years to come."
Poppy Brown, Red Cross Director NSW said the funding will enable Red Cross to continue providing support to the community in times of crisis.
"We are delighted to receive this support for the Cootamundra Red Cross, which is such a wonderful hub in the local community. This support means even more particularly with the big challenges we all face with COVID-19 right now and in the months ahead," Ms Brown said.
"Red Cross continues supporting farming communities through drought, people impacted by bushfires and others facing tough times."
Now a decade old, the Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 13,800 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
Applications for the 2020 Program opened in May.
