Our Club is struggling like so many others, but nevertheless trying to run a lawn bowls program for its members with the social distancing requirements required.
Last week a couple more Championship games were played. Firstly I bring you the Major Singles game that saw Des Guthrie drawn to play Kevin "Scobie " Breasley. Des got off to a terrible start, conceding 9 shots on first three ends and despite a solid game from thereon ironicly that 9 shot loss at the start proved to be Des Guthrie`s nemesis. He needed 9 shots to win with final score being (31-23)
The second Championship was a Major Pairs contest that saw Kevin Medcalf and Ron Rosengreen taking on A.E.Ward ( Tony) and Graeme Worboys. If you were a gambling person I would be thinking Kevin and Ron would be favourites here and so it was no surprise when they won the first three ends. However that`s where Tony and Graeme upped the ante and were never headed going on to a (21-13) final score and fellow member`s congratulations!
Social play for the week begins with a hard fought pairs game between S. Wilkinson & R. Rosengreen and J.Cooper & C. Willis who finished with 16 points from their win. Winners of the meat trays for the day were G. Hagan and F Kerr who defeated A. Ward and B. Gibson for 16 .5 points. Raffle tray won by B. Gibson.
Good weather contributed to three games of social alongside the Championship game and firstly a 14 shot margin for S. Wilkinson and K. Breasley over K. Ryan and R. Cleveland. Then A. Ward, J. Malone and B. Lange had a 22 shot margin over N. Stubbs, E. Jarrott and G. Davidson .Winners of the Chooks for the day with a 23 shot margin were G.Hagan, and F. Kerr who defeated G. Botrall and R. JJohnson. To rub a little salt into the wound that group also won the Jackpot. That`s life is it not ?? Cheers `til next time O.B.E.
