After a week off last weekend, the Cootamundra Blues are back on the road to the nations capital to take on their namesake Woden Blues.
Woden will also go into the game fresh as their scheduled game against Batemans Bay last weekend was cancelled. Woden currently occupy second place on the ladder and are yet to taste defeat, something Cootamundra will be desperate to change.
Cootamundra will look to on-ballers Joe Scott and Phil Bird to lead the way through the middle of the park. Both inside midfielders are hard at the ball and will look to run and break tackles at every opportunity, which will be key to beating a well drilled Woden outfit.
Down back, Jacob Tiernan and Blake Basham have both enjoyed solid starts to the season and will again be relied upon to drive the Blues forward. Unfortunately for the Blues back six, they will be without key defender Dylan Pumpa who suffered an unfortunate shoulder injury that will sideline him for the next few weeks. Pumpa has been a huge addition to the Blues back line this year and will be sorely missed.
With full forward Sandy Maskell-Knight still battling a shoulder complaint, the Blues may again need to find other avenues to goal. First year players Lachie Webb and Nick Simons will face their biggest test so far but will have plenty of support with the experienced Luke Webb guiding them around up forward. Nick Holt looks to have recovered from the concussion that kept him out of Cootamundra's previous win and should be a certain starter. Holt is extremely dangerous around the loose ball and will look to add some spark to the Blues forward line.
Due to predicted wet weather, the game has been moved to Rockley Oval in Googong and is now scheduled for a 12:10pm first bounce. With such a shortened season, Cootamundra will have even more pressure on them to ensure they don't fall too far behind the teams at the top of the ladder.
