And while never having uttered the word, it seems reasonable to type it today because there's been some goodness.
And that 'yay' would've echoed around the world as the PM revealed that more Aussies stranded overseas will be able to return home from September 27.
NSW, Queensland and Western Australia will take additional arrivals while the smaller states and territories have agreed to assist the Commonwealth return Australians by accepting chartered flights. YAY!
Another agreement from the National Cabinet meeting was to implement mandatory data collection on domestic flights which would assist contact tracing in the event of a positive case of coronavirus. More key points can be found here.
In other good news, there was hope for a "liftathon" of sorts. Leaders from Tasmania, South Australia and Queensland all today announced they'd be considering lifting travel bans in their respective states - not completely but to some outsiders.
For the Taswegians, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory sit in the "COVID-safe" category and may just be welcome a tad earlier than first expected. YAY!
South Australia is poised to lift COVID-19 travel restrictions with NSW next week while people can leave the ACT for the Sunshine State from 1am, September 25. YAY!
On the "active COVID front", country Victoria now accounts for just over three per cent of the total active COVID-19 cases across the state.
There are now 883 active cases in metropolitan Melbourne, while regional Victoria has just 30 active cases, according to the Department of Health of Human Services. YAY!
We've been dealing with this pandemic for 237 days. It's been a slog - worse for some than others. For that very reason, we're sticking with yays and wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Stay safe.
