CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said he was delighted the "Sparkling Streets Competition" will encourage Cootamundra residents to celebrate and extend goodwill for the festive season.
"There is nothing like taking a drive around town with children gasping at the twinkling of lights, giant blow-ups of Santa and the reindeers that adorn many of the homes around Cootamundra," Councillor McAlister said. "This competition will encourage more to participate and bring some joy and delight to all."
The competition is open to anyone who wants to participate, and displays must be ready for judging between 8.30pm and 10.30pm from Monday December 7 to Tuesday December 15.
An entry form is required to be completed prior to the judging commencing.
The entry forms are available from CGRC administration office in Wallendoon Street or from the Cootamundra Development Corporation (CDC) offices in Parker Street Cootamundra.
The categories are the best decorated home, best decorated business (non-residential, commercial etc.) and best themed display (i.e. nativity, Santa). All winners in each category will win a $100 gift voucher.
