NSW Rural Fire Service Area mitigation crews have recently been doing hazard reduction in Stockinbingal to lessen fuel loads around the village before the onset of the bush fire danger period. Three mitigation crews, from Bathurst, Oberon, and Cowra have been working to reduce grass hazards within the village. Areas done have been along Temora Street, Duduaman Road, Troy Street, Burley Griffin Way, Geralda Street, and West Street. They have also included the laneway between Geralda and Duduaman, the crown reserve west of Grogan Road and the travelling stock reserve in Troy Street. Some of the works have been to help Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council, while other work will form part of an annual works program for the Stockinbingal village. Machinery used by the crews have been a 100hp tractor and slasher, two Billy Goat self-propelled mowers, one 40hp zero turn mower, and brush cutters.
