Ms Cooke said the new station was part of the NSW Government's $132 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) Stage 1 program, aimed at ensuring regional communities have up to date health infrastructure.
"This is a fantastic new facility and testament of the investment from the NSW Government in to our communities," Ms Cooke said.
"The new station was designed with the input of local staff so it's a space they feel at home in and can be proud of. I am so pleased this station is open for business."
The purpose-built station includes:
- Internal parking for up to four emergency ambulance vehicles
- Administration and office areas
- Staff amenities
- Logistics and storage areas
- Relief accommodation
- Staff parking
- Delivery and loading bay
- External wash bay
NSW Ambulance Assistant Commissioner Clare Lorenzen said the project is an important step in the delivery of high-quality mobile emergency care for Cootamundra and surrounding areas.
"The continued support from the NSW Government to provide advanced equipment and facilities will help our paramedics to do what they do best and deliver top quality lifesaving medical care," Ms Lorenzen said.
Since 2018 six new Ambulance Stations have been built across the Cootamundra electorate at Grenfell, Cootamundra, Cowra, Ardlethan, Harden and Coolamon, with upgrades to Temora's Ambulance Station also completed.
In 2020-21, the NSW Government is investing more than $1 billion in services and capital works for NSW Ambulance.
