Officials from both Kangaroos and Brothers have been asked to compile reports into the concluding stages of their clash at Equex Centre on Saturday.
The drama was sparked by a high tackle by Kangaroos forward Chris Maher on Kangaroos counterpart Darryl Charles.
Maher was sent off by referee Sean Byatt for the tackle in the second half of Kangaroos' 34-16 win.
He has subsequently been charged by the match review.
However Charles was not happy with the incident and left the field shortly after in an attempt to further remonstrate with Maher, who was in the Kangaroos' dressing sheds.
Police were called to the ground as the situation escalated near the vicinity of the crowd on the western side of the ground.
An investigation is not how Group Nine chairman Andrew Hinchcliffe wanted the season to start.
"The focus of the board is on growing the game and having the game seen in a positive light so incidents like this are not something we want to see occur," Hinchcliffe said.
"We will be looking to put things in place to make sure we reduce the times this type of stuff happens."
Hinchcliffe hopes to be able to avoid situations escalating in the future, admitting it was not a good look for the sport.
However he was relieved the situation was able to be controlled by officials from both clubs.
"It is a bit of a bad look but I'm thankful there was no real incident," Hinchcliffe said.
"The on-field piece was dealt with by the referee and this off-field piece, while it wasn't a great look, I'm glad no one was hurt.
"It is something we need to address but it is not something that's a big deal."
Maher is facing at least a week on the sidelines after being slapped with a careless high tackle charge.
With an early guilty plea, after taking into consideration his good record, Maher will miss the clash with Tumut on Sunday but would be free to tackle Young at Alfred Oval in round three.
The base sanction for the charge is four weeks.
