Already without front rowers Aaron Slater and Inoke Vunipola, Nayah Freeman then failed to get through the warm up with a back complaint.

It saw Boro Navori start on the wing for the Cherrypickers.

Taking on their winless rivals it was a game that failed to reach any dazzling standards but Young did more than enough to continue their charge.

Overall Coach Nick Hall was pleased with the 46-4 victory at Equex Centre on Sunday.

"We've got through it with two points and no injuries but there were some lessons," Hall said.

"Any side, even Brothers who haven't won a game, if you let them in with a few errors they can score.

"There was a period in the first half where we let them in by not completing a handful of sets and gave them field position.

"There was an opportunity for us to be a bit more stingy with the ball, a bit more patient to let them invite us in.

"Brothers were good enough in the first half but generally we defended ok, didn't give them too many opportunities and created a few more."

Young scored twice in the opening minutes but it was Brothers who hit back as Harold Kirby went over.

The try kicked the Pickers later as they scored three consecutive tries to lead 28-4 at half-time.

Young then capitalised on an early Brothers mistake to extend their advantage.

They had plenty of success on their right edge in the second with tries Jake Veney and Harry Fitzpatrick capping off the big win.

While the Cherrypickers left plenty of points out there due to their poor completion rate, Hall was fairly pleased with their attacking shape.

"It wasn't a game for the outside backs as they didn;t get enough early ball and there were some chances for cleaner ball but some of the shapes were pretty good," he said.

"We scored a couple of nice ones down the right and on the left too and l thought we looked pretty slick at times."

However Hall wants the side to be better when they return to Equex Centre to face Kangaroos on Saturday.

They've already scored two wins over the fifth-placed side but trailed 22-6 at half-time in their last meeting.

"They will know they can come in and hassle us and will think they're a chance again as they have been in the last two rounds," Hall said.

"They will give themselves every chance and will be a little bit chastened from their last performance.

"They will be wanting to be better and the risk is we don't take much momentum out of the week so we need to start again next week and be brutal and ruthless."
