On the last weekend in October the group of 15 locals gathered for a day of amazing photos that all mean a lot more to them than just a picture.
"The Dare To Bare photoshoot was a little idea that I had 12 months ago and on Saturday the 30th of October myself and 14 other local ladies made Dare To Bare happen and come to life," organiser Laura Cartwright said.
"The photoshoot took place in my home in a room that I styled up that the girls would feel totally comfortable in for a tastefully captured topless photoshoot.
"The photos where captured by Kristielle Gibbons Photography who I reached out to months ago about being the photographer for the day."
When it came to choosing which charity the group would be raising funds for Laura said that it was imperative that the money stay locally and go to an organisation that helps locals.
"Over a few glasses of wine we chattered not only about our nerves and excitement towards the photo shoot but also the cancer aspect of why we decided to put our hands up and be apart of Dare To Bare," Laura said.
"I was adamant that the money stays local so I reached out to Gail (Hannigan) from CanAssist and after last years efforts I was determined to smash that figure out of the park!"
And smash the figure they did raising well over $50,000 for the organisation.
"The girls and I reached out to our nearest and dearest for sponsorship in the form of donations to complete the photo shoot," Laura said.
"Collectively as a group we raised $55,268.93 which every single cent stays here in Young and goes to Can Assist to support individuals and there families dealing with cancer."
Laura said the support for the fundraiser from the community has been outstanding.
"I'm so thrilled that the community got behind the girls and I on this, to each and every person and or business that took the time to donate please understand how grateful the girls and I are and we hope you too feel more then just a donation but a huge contributing factor to what will be of benefit to someone else dealing and living with cancer," Laura said.
On top of the photo shoot there is also going to be a Dare to Bare function which will be held in December.
"The Dare to Bare event has been moved to Saturday the 11th of December as I was determined to not let COVID interfere or spoil what will be a beautiful celebration just for the ladies," Laura said.
"With 100 tickets sold my garden is ready to go, it will be styled up with beautifully with glamping tents, pink cocktails and grazing platters for the ladies to enjoy.
"A Can Assist representative and a breast cancer nurse from the Young Hospital are going to join in on the day to casually chat with the ladies over the course of the afternoon."
The fundraiser has attracted a lot of attention through social media with profiles of those who were involved shared and applauded by the community.
Laura said the experience was so much more than she had hoped it would be.
"Dare to Bare what a successful, liberating and heart warming experience it was," she said.
